Yan Wenliang Memorial Museum was built on the site of Suzhou Art College (old Suzhou Art Museum). The Greek-style main architecture, commonly known as “Roman Building”, was directed to build by Mr. Yan Wenliang. In recent years, Suzhou Municipal Government has spent more than 4 million Yuan to repair the Roman Building, connecting the museum with Pavilion of Surging Waves, which is one of the world cultural heritages, as well as the oldest garden in Suzhou. It displays flag, badge, magazine of Suzhou Art College and other literature materials at the permanent exhibition of Yan Wenliang. Specially, the classroom used at Suzhou Art College is restored and alumni interviews are played in the museum. At present, Yan Wenliang Memorial Museum is the sole existing schoolhouse left in China, which belongs to one of four famous art colleges established in the Republic of China.
